The following is not permitted into Egypt and if included in shipments will result in seizure of all prohibited items and possible legal penalties against the shipper:
-Perishable products
-Fireworks
-Drugs of any kind including DHEA’s, narcotics, hallucinogens, amphetamines, barbiturates, tranquillizers and steroids.
-Weapons including firearms or parts, ammunition, replica firearms, spring bladed knives, daggers, knuckle dusters, swords and martial arts equipment.
-Exposed cinematographic (movie) film or videotape depicting death or pornographic material involving children or animals.
-Medicines (whether prescribed by a medical practitioner or not) including herbal.
-Alcohols
-Military uniforms of any kind
-Wireless phone
-Remote control airplane or similar devices

-Scanner, fax, printer
-Foodstuffs, beverages and other consumables
-Books, CD & DVD’s, Paintings (maybe required for extensive inspection)
-Electrics and electronics (brand, make, serial numbers need to be provided and declared)

-DIPLOMATS
-Copy of consignee Passport stamped from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.-Authorization letter signed and stamped from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.-Authorization letter notarized from the Notary Public department in Egypt if the shipment contains Car or Motorcycle.-Packing list and invoice stamped from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.-Form 4DE (Diplomats).-Letter of Guarantee / if there is a car in the shipment only.
CLEARANCE PROCEDURES
1 – The customs clearance process in Ports usually takes about 7-12 working days after we have received all the required documents. It is not unusual for the process to take slightly longer.2 – All items are subject to custom duty and taxes. (60 % + 14%).3 – All audio visual goods “ tapes, video, DVD, CD ROMS, antiques, Statues, Computers, Printers, toners, phones, books and Paintings will be inspected, viewed, read by Customs and released no sooner than 2 weeks after import, So we prefer not to include these items in the shipment to avoid more demurrage and extra inspections fee.4 – The Inventory must state the model, brand, size and content (e.g., Sony 40” Television) for all electrical and electronic items.5 – All private shippers not having a Letter of Guarantee must pay duties and taxes in cash.6 – The Letter of Guarantee states an amount of money corresponding to the amount of duties and taxes to be paid these funds are placed into a bank account and released to the shipper when moving out of Egypt; at that time, shipment will be fully unloaded and the customs will inspect and register every item with model and description, all items must be re- exported when moving out; otherwise taxes and fines will be paid on each missing item.7 – The Guarantee can only be obtained with a Work Permit and Work Visa.8 – Extra charges may be applied for the inspection of special items, including: alcohol, food, phones and paintings, etc.9 – All shipments, from private to half-diplomatic are subject to customs inspection.10 – Diplomats may be exempted from customs duties and inspection provided they apply for and are granted Form 4DE (Protocol). / Customs clearance procedures will takes 2-3 working days.11 – Wooden crates in air or sea shipments must be fumigated.12 – Container demurrage charges are common because of limited free time, so 21 days free time is preferable.
